Electrical Technician-Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates

PURPOSE To perform the preventive, corrective and troubleshooting maintenance activities on High and Low Voltage equipment located on the Pipeline Division’s distribution network. BACKGROUND The Electrical Technician reports to the Electrical Supervisor that comes under the Maintenance Department. Equipment includes high and low voltage equipment and associated systems such as generators, motors, transformers, uninterrupted power systems (UPS), rectifiers, batteries, desalinators, desaltors, switch gears, loading arms, fire fighting systems, control panels and substations. This range of equipment generates challenging and technically complex types of maintenance, due to the length of the pipeline, and the harsh and remote desert locations required for performing most of the maintenance activities. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES • To perform preventive maintenance checks, calibration, troubleshooting and shut down maintenance activities of various types of Electrical Equipment installed in the Pipeline network. • To perform troubleshooting, identifying, isolating, repairing and testing of faulty electrical components and circuits. • To respond to emergency call outs, troubleshoot the problem and take action to ensure the correct operation of the Electrical equipment. • To update the Maximo Database with the information of activity reports, manpower, spares and materials required for job completion. • To participate and contribute in development and implementation of corrective actions to improve reliability of electrical equipment, by working closely with Operations personnel, other crafts and various support personnel. • To review proposals and specifications for modification and new minor projects and provide recommendations and feedback. • To comply with all company Health, Safety and Environment as well as Work Permit, policies and procedures. • To provide On Job Training to meet Competency Based Training programs for UAE Nationalization. MAIN CHALLENGES • To improve the HSE awareness of the Contractor staff and general public, due to the lack of understanding of the dangers and risks associated with high and low voltage electricity.

Profile Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering • 5 years experience in Electrical Engineering job with a major oil or petrochemical company dealing with high and low voltage switch gear, 2 years which in a supervisory capacity. • Very good knowledge of English.
